I see your point but a rising price of gold helps exploration stocks if they are seeking funding as this lifts the mood in what has been a depressed market for a few years, and as has been pointed out many times investors/financiers are like lemmings, I always think of it as a type of diffusion from a high concentration of activity to a low concentration of activity, and PM miners have certainly been on the low end! As the other areas become less profitable and the POG continues rising miners become more attractive, the shift in focus of the investment community towards PM related companies could be dramatic.
