Actually, the first known white folks to discover Newfoundland were the Vikings (other potential migrations in pre-history not included).

They built settlements at L'Anse aux Meadows, on the northern tip of Newfoundland. They also colonized parts of Greenland - both around 1000AD.
Within 300 years, "Global Cooling", better known as "the Little Ice Age" destroyed their crops and cattle - and with nothing to live on in a desolate country, in both cases, they retreated back to Yurp.
The Vikings may have not been interested in Diamonds or, in their right minds, Prius's.
Be careful how your 'carbon footprint' affects your life. You could be a Newfie waiting for 'Global Warming' to come around again..
Or, you may not know what your 'carbon footprint' does despite what the experts say that don't know scheisse.
