RE:RE:RE:friday morning @ 7:11Sure with a bit of fast foot work you can possibly make money on a quick turn with SGR securities. I look for something that might develop into another Agnico. In other words, I like to think of myself as a prudent investor who makes decisions on the basis of sound, well-presented evidence. I don't see this happening with SGR. Having the president and vic-president churn out a reserve estimate is hardly 'arm's length' behaviour, especially when they could have easily afforded an independent job.

Previous estimates were made using the polygonal method which never worked very well and was dropped by most companies more than 25 years ago. Today estimates are made using geostatistics which appears to be what Ginn and Marchaud used, although they don't say so clearly. The report contains no variograms or reference to them. Some of the statements about statistical treatment are questionable. We don't need this.

I am not saying 'the emporer has no clothes' - only that we don't know if he has or not. The sort of study Gibson needs right now is not something you put together quickly. If he has one, he is obliged to tell the world. Just because a well-funded institution on Bay Stree throws money at a venture is no evidence they know more than the rest of us. Look up the history of Fire River.
