It could be related to earnings but looking back, last year the earnings were released a scant 3 weeks after EOQ - the general norn for Q results is generally 6 weeks after EOQ.  So with business now being more complex, perhaps an August date is more reasonable.

Today's action might also be related to further consoliation in the STB sector. Cisco is selling its business to France's Technicolor (both are current ESP clients) and the market may expecting further consolidation as margins become thinner for the hardware guys who are seeing their products becoming more commoditized.
