Arbitration, then what?Do not underestimate the degree of corruption in Colombia. It is endemic. There are lots of political debts to be paid. So, do not write off the influence of the Gelvez family.
What we have learned from the Venezuela experience is the government still has options after arbitration. Venezuela is broke but obviously still had bargaining power. Chasing assets world wide is tedious so they made an offer to Gold Reserve to partner up. That offer was accepted, so arbitration basically got the company what they would have achieved if the country would have simply let them mine.
Do not think that Colombia has not been paying attention to events there.
