RE:Shopify Stock price and Wall Street opinionsMainman, I've been a long-time lurker, and just wanted to say I always enjoy your posts. The shopify ride has been rough lately, but in my opinion, it's time to hang tough!
I can't pretend that I'm up on the competition, but perhaps he felt a lot of pressure from competitors and wanted to stake out a better market share??
There appears to be enough institutional interest with firms staking out large claims, probably due to outperforming growth in subscriptions, that a large downside would be surprising. Through my own facebook surfing and app usage, I've seen a strong advertising presence and a lot of positive feedback from users, which is very encouraging. Even symmetry with the name Spotify offers a ring of familiarity to the average person. Given the trajectory of online shopping trends, if Shopify succeeds in becoming the go-to retailing platform, it seems that either a very premium buy-out will be placed on the table (if re can all recall the Google rumours), or the company will experience growth in market share in lockstep with the growth in online shopping (speculatively, of course)
