RE:RE:Mr. Kayne knows the market LOVES unpredictability! Nice shooting on this. I hope they have strategy consultants working on these ideas now. If not, opportunity beckons...
I am a fan of the Mercer idea -- that would be one heck of an NBSK powerhouse! I'd add:
1) Greenfield build. I know, I know... a cool Bil, but can it leverage cheap jurisdictions? Even in Alberta during the bust....
2) Buy WFT's two NBSKs. Hey, why not?
3) Buy Tembec. Why? B/c @*#! Tembec -- one of the worst managed companies in Canada. Be like the Roman Empire. One lumber outfit based in Rome (CFP) and one grabbag in Quebec/Ont/NBSK. New CEO for the latter of course. I'd hire Duncan Davies for whatever he wants. He's one of the few transformational leaders in the sector. Or Peter W from Norbord.
4) Innovate double time. Invent fusion. Or less far fetched, nanocrystalline cellulose action. Make it happen.
5) More power. Sell it to the grid; hit California. Remember when Enron manipulated the markets? Don't do that, but feed into the system for a few bucks.
6) Joint venture with Conifex. With CFX cash and CFF swashbuckling make it happen. Buying spree in the southern USA including the El Dorado Site.
