manipulation versus trading strategyit never fails to amaze me the number of folks who use the word manipulation to discuss trading patterns and pricing moves. It's one in the same the only difference is how its viewed and your perspective and willingness to accept its existance and manage it.
Manipulation in its true sense is someone who controls the flow of information and trades based on its content and usually involves lying about the facts. Since not too many people have that type of sway and regulators usually catch up with them eventually , re Bre-x and Sino Forest manipulation is not an issue.
It may be confused with influence which is the case with oil and the resultant talking heads comments about what the results will be and the indivuduals reaction to their comments. That's not manipulation, its thier take on the action excacerbated by thier agenda's , ie selling papers, articles, just writing something to fill space.
If prices remained static there would be no market and people would not lose and make money so embrace the " manipulation" and enjoy the game.
