Watsa is in a very different position than the average share holder as his accesss to capital and the size of his holding give him leavers others do not have. If you want an idea of what will he posibly do going forward, look no further than how he has handled his other investments that have not done well like Black Berry. Amoungst other things, Black Berry issued Watsa convertable debit that over time lets him get a bigger share of the company and pays him while he waits. He has used this strategy with a lot of his losers and what it does is let him recoupe losses and get a bigger peice of the pie over time. What it does for the other smaller shareholders is provide some stability as he is back stopping the company but the cost down the road will be considerable as their percentage of ownership sinks and his grows.
