Goldcorp Announces Sale of Los Filos Mine Goldcorp will receive estimated consideration of $438 million.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/goldcorp-announces-sale-los-filos-134200313.html Torex told me that a geotechnical fault in the open pit renders Los Filos uneconomical if they want to mine their current reserves, hence they shortened the mine life from 10 to 3 years. This shouldn't be taken as factual but was their understanding of the situation at the time I asked.
You can see from the latest Los Filos financials that it was doing really poorly. It also has unique security issues that haven't affected Torex. Meanwhile Timmins seems to have a still better location.
So $438 million for that is quite spectacular when you think of what TMM is being valued at today. No doubt the buyer of Los Filos thinks they got a good deal.
