For children, and ‘uneducated’ people, it may a useful tool to start to instill ethics.
The un-Christian cultures are generally much more screwed up than the Christian cultures.
Perhaps one reason is that Christianity, almost uniquely, puts responsibility on the individual.
Destroying Christianity may be a step backwards for the uneducated.
However, like Santa Claus, Christianity needs to be outgrown, or questioned, as one develops.
