It's actually a thing. They have a lot of "Ambassadors" or "Connectors". If you go to her actual instagram page >>> HERE <<< you will see that she has the "@ryu_apparel" tag in her bio/summary. Also, images where she is wearing RYU, she has tagged it.

If you just start clicking around on RYU's instagram page, you'll see a bunch of people tagged in their images. If you follow onto these peoples pages, you will also se most of them claiming to be "Brand Ambassadors" or "Connectors". RYU also offers the "Affiliate Program" which allows people (trainers/athletes) to earn 10% commission on all sales they generate for the company.

As for the stars thing, It just looks better when a bullboard has some yellow on it. I give you 5.
