Besides adjustments there are other considerations as well. For instance the urban heat island effect where temp readings in big cities surrounded by concrete are artificially inflated by several degrees. There are stations that 50 years ago were in a field in the country where the city has expanded and now the station is surrounded by buildings, roads and vehicles.

Several years ago a group of volunteers examined all temp stations in the U.S. They found some alarming things:

Some stations were located in the middle of parking lots with heat radiating from the ashphalt as well as from car exhausts and hot engines.

They found stations a few feet away from high-rise buildings with heat radiating from the walls and sheltering from wind which would have dissipated the heat.

They found a couple of stations located a few feet from building air conditioning exhausts.

Then there are all the stations located at major airports near runways with big jets coming and going all day and night with copious amounts of heat pouring from the engine exhausts.

It goes on, but if anything modern and recent temps should be adjusted down to account for the things I just described. But of course the government employed or funded warmists would never do that as it would be contrary to the narrative and the goals. Reality, honesty and ethics aren't considerations.
