 AstraZeneca received better news on its key drug Imfinzi, following a major setback from a study of the same cancer medicine last week.The US Food and Drug Administration awarded the drug “breakthrough therapy designation” for the treatment of patients whose lung cancer is at a less advanced stage than those who participated in the so-called Mystic trial, which produced disappointing results on Thursday.This designation speeds up the regulatory review and development of a medicine, potentially delivering faster access for sufferers from non-small cell lung cancer.
