You'd be surprised. I know of at least two people that opened bank accounts at Scotiabank based on their NHL sponsorship. 

"I think I'm going to open a new account at Scotiabank."

"Why there?"

"I dunno, seems good. I saw an ad while watching hockey. Seems like a good place to do it."

And how often do you have conversations with friends about where they open their bank account at :/ For all I know, there are more.
