***Katanga Restarting Mine***
***Katanga Restarting Mine***The below excerpt is from Glencore's Q2 Earnings Call with Analysts as of August 2017:
- We have Katanga, which will come in operation during 2018, 150,000 tonnes of copper in '18 plus another 150,000 tonnes coming from Katanga in '19, being a 300,000-tonne producer, which will also produce roundabout 20,000 tonnes of cobalt when it's in full production
- We nearly finished the Whole Ore Leach program at Katanga, the first part of it, and that will bring Katanga in to operation at the end of this year
The below excerpt is from Glencore's Q1 Earnings Call with Analysts as of Feburary 2017:
- We've discussed Katanga will come onstream. That will add 300,000 tonnes of copper during -- we will start that up in 2018 and it will move its way into full production between 2018 and 2019. So, Katanga will be coming onstream then.
The below excerpt is from Glencore's Q2 Earnings Call with Analysts as of August 2016:
- On the copper production at Katanga when 'The Whole Ore Leach' program is finished and as I said we are doing production on in early 2018, whatever cost around about $1.20.
*** The above statements are per the CEO Ivan Glasenberg ***
Remember Katanga will produce about 150,000 Tonnes of Copper in 2018 with a cost of $1.2 which is expected to ramp up to 300,000K in 2019. Once Katange is in full Production Capacity the Cost of Copper will come down as more copper volume is spread over the fix cost. Katanga will be a large scale mine with low operating cost strucutre and significant revenue to show for it.
Best,
