RE:CuBus bars are used in DC power systems.  They have huge bus bars in Bell central offices used for powering and grounding all the equipment held within.  Central offices are primarily DC powered -48 VDC.  DC power has a large voltage drop over distance so you need large guage copper wire to transport DC power.  You would be shocked at how much copper is in a Bell central office.
