**** SENATE INFORMATION ****Why are we having this crazy discussion about the Senate week after week.
One last time....the Senate is dominated by the Liberals and the only tactic the PCs have is delay or stall.
The Prime Minister of Canada CAN and HAS in the past, used his position to have a vote if he feels the Senate process is being delayed for wharever reason. Check the Senate history....this has happened 11 times !!!
There are 105 Senate positions. Independent 39, PC 33, Liberal 14 , Non Affiliated 7 and 12 vacant. Since the conversion of several Liberal Senators from Liberal to Independent, they have voted along party lines. Once again check the Senate stats
STORY TIME: Just before the Christmas break, a female PC Senator stood up in the Senate and stated " why don't we have The Minister of Youth" speak before the Senate. She was being pressured by the Liberal Senators to "lets get this going" and thought this would be a good stall tactic. A Independent Senator then stated" do you know who the Minister of Youth is?" She said NO. The Minister of Youth is the PM !!! She was totally embarassed and so she should be. The Senate then took a vote ( it's a rule if you want the PM to speak before the Senate ).
The vote was 53 YES and 32 NO.
All 32 NO votes were PC's !!!!!!!
Therefore DO NOT think for one second that this bill will not pass. The Senators vote according to party lines !!!
This bill IMO will be delayed by the PCs until the spring because of all their BS delays and tactics but it will pass very easily. I expect the sale of cannabis to start around 1 Sept 2018.
So lets stop all the Senate talk.....it's happening so get over it
