The Subsidiary has identified deposits of aggregate along the route and made an application for approximately 32 aggregate extraction permits.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As part of a dynamic team, you will: 

You will: 

• provide strategic policy advice, recommendations and development 
• research, identify and analyze policy and programs including developing and implementing options 
• develop content for Cabinet submissions and other decision-making materials 
• plan and facilitate discussions and negotiations with other governments including First Nations, crown agencies and the private sector 
• provide advice, interpretation and clarification for internal and external stakeholders 
• lead and manage concurrent projects 
• advise and support management on strategic issues management 
• communicate and facilitate application to government and non-government programming 
• plan, lead and/or participate in First Nation and stakeholder consultations to identify needs, float concepts, gather reactions, opinions and suggestions, explain policy and generate support 
• develop and sustain positive working relationships and networks (both within and outside of government) and provide leadership in advancing Ring of Fire initiatives 
• lead and coordinate activities which include inter-ministerial committees, leveraging joint funding of programming, etc. to ensure coordinated, timely and dependable results

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to remote areas that may be inaccessible by other means of transportation

First Nations and Metis Community Based Capacity Building knowledge and skills:

You have: 
• knowledge of and skills in community based economic development, skills training and social programs 
• knowledge of all aspects of Aboriginal Affairs 
• knowledge of business environment and commodity markets 
• knowledge of First Nations community based economic development trends, issues, partners and stakeholders 
• knowledge of community-based First Nation relationship building

Policy and program development skills:

• You have acquired knowledge and skills in policy and program development and qualitative and quantitative program evaluation to provide leadership and expertise in program development, implementation and review. 
• You have sound knowledge of results-based planning, performance benchmarking, financial planning and forecasting to ensure that planning meets Ministry and corporate requirements. 
• You have the ability to interpret legal documents (e.g. agreements, legislation, regulations).

Consultative, negotiation and communication skills:

• You have excellent communication skills to respond to issues, provide recommendations, and prepare various reports, materials, submissions and correspondence. 
• You have well-developed consultation, leadership, and negotiation skills to lead consultations with various stakeholders and obtain consensus on policy directions and initiatives. 
• You have excellent presentation and persuasion skills to provide advice and make recommendations on contentious issues. 
• You have proven facilitation skills and diplomacy to communicate with internal and external clients and stakeholders.

Analytical, problem-solving and issues management skills:

• You have the ability to plan and conduct policy research as well as assess and make recommendations on various matters (e.g. policy and program options, costs and operational guidelines). 
• You have the ability to lead and review research of policies and programs, identify and evaluate best practices for application to provincial policy and programs. 
• You have proven research and analysis techniques to lead and coordinate research and analysis of options and impacts to support policy and delivery recommendations.

Project management skills:

• You have well-developed project management techniques and methodologies to lead and manage projects, teams and working groups.
