It is refered to as pyritic sediments, you can have pyritic shale, but this is so pure the term pyritic sediments is used.  This is the key to high grade gold, the chemical trigger to drop out the gold.

My guess is a "black smoker" (the basalt appears underwater formed, the whole thing was in ocean when formed) nearby was dropping pryrite out of the plume, that settled between basaltic flows, Upper and lower Lunnon basalt, maybe got current deposited.  Its tiny, like 6" thick.
