Nic regional issue in WSJ.. thought interesting insighthttps://www.wsj.com/articles/pay-or-die-extortion-economy-drives-latin-americas-murder-crisis-1541167619

All,
This seems to be a pretty good article in Wall Street JOurnal regarding El Salvador and Honduras. I did not know why they are coming to America.. this explains it and gives insight into regional issues.

Do not want to get into the "caravan" issue, so my concern is for stability of Nicaragua. I did not realize the level of crime in El Sal n Honduras.. so thought some other might be interested in article. It is at WSJ, so need subscription or maybe get a couple free articles.

Why are people fleeing Central America? at WSJ.
Answer.. two rival gangs are extorting their own populations for protection money. Each control territory, fight among themselves and kill lots of citizens that don't pay, government is not effective, actually subservient to gangs. El Salvador and Honduras are a mess.

While don't like what happened in Nic.. don't want these gangs to spread into Nic due to lawlessness or harm from US sanctions.  Really wish I could see the future, and the past to be able to assess blame in past Nic conflicts.

Why Are People Fleeing Central America? A New Breed of Gangs Is Taking Over.

Gangs such as MS-13 and Barrio 18 prey on their own neighborhoods in a violent, chaotic model spreading through the region
