How many buses will Vancouver buy?

How many buses will Vancouver buy?So I wanted to know how many total buses of all types Metro Vancouver could be buying.

Google says TransLink is responsible for the regional transportation network of Metro Vancouver.

If you go to this page on the TransLink website it says (emphasis is mine):

Bus projects include…

Fleet improvements and expansion, which include replacing 600 aging buses AND adding over 300 new buses.

The above sentence implies that they plan to purchase over 900 buses total in the 1st and 2nd phase of their 10 year plan.  The first 2 phases last 5 years.  The 3rd phase comes later and I don’t yet have any details on that.

Page 24 (actual page 11) of this pdf document shows that the new buses are to be purchased as follows:

Phase 1 - 2017 to 2019

Buy 171 new buses for Phase One bus improvements, in addition to new buses to replace aging fleet.  My guess is replacing old fleet might equal another 300 buses which makes a total of 471 buses to be purchased in phase 1.

Phase 2 - 2020 to 2021

Buy 151 new buses for Phase Two bus service improvements, in addition to new buses to replace aging fleet.  Again my guess is replacing old fleet might equal another 300 buses which makes a total of 451 buses to be purchased in phase 2.

That is a total of 922 new buses of ALL types to be purchased between 2017 and 2021.

I have no idea how many of those buses will be from BUS but I'm going to keep researching and see if I can find some website that shows current open government bids in BC.

I'm also going to research open bids in other parts of Canada as well as the United States.
