joeman wrote: Dictatorship=corruption 99.9% of the time , call it fascism, communism, liberalism, still is a dictatorship. No govt is pure free market, always some govt interferance and taxes. China mainland is a dictatorship, doesnt even pretend to be otherwise like Russia.

Trump is authoritarian but he is a crowd pleaser, loves his American patriots. He has really upset a lot of elites and certain special interest groups, he knows his opponents weaknesses, such as China, Mexico and Canada, China is not any better off negotiating than Canada or Mexico. Good luck to your Chinese friends.

Slave labour? Some prison camps yes, sweat shops? Yes, lots. Who controls China? The communist party, anyone inside that party is living the high life, while citizens do as they are told. China dumping products on other markets to stratigically put everyone else out of business like japan did in 1983. Meanwhile prior to Trump there were ZERO consequences. China also does not respect intellectuel property rights and lots of other trade issues and grievances with china around trade. Also they manipulate their currency , do so because they do not want to let up on their exports. Massive trade deficit witb China due to many of these factors. Trump bringing jobs to USA.

joeman, I respect your point however to watch economy based only on eye-popping news title is not enough. As an example of slave labour in China, you guys have the example of forced labour in prison. Yes, there is. But do you know people over there thinks criminals short work to pay for their living in jail and it's an good way to force people to reflect. I know the way is different from Canadian's, but is there any reasonable grounds of the other thought. For each point, I can find something to say, but I do not intend to defend anybody or anything. Just to say the world is not such simple, I would like to extend mutual understanding.
For President Trump I should see big portion of Chinese would like him to win in 2020. If you can read Chinese, you can find out easily. I realized USA's action may be too late when Obama delivered speech in Australia mentioned about disaster will be resulted if every Chinese lives the America way years ago. Ever one has right to fight for their own good, I do not think Trump fought in correct way when putting value aside talking only about money. Have you seen the weakening of USD?
This is kind of off topic, so I shut up on this.

joeman, I talk on this topic one more time to thank you for you kindness!

By the way, I would like to add one point that beside China is under control of CCP it's running fully on capitalism system, or national capitalism.
Giving two examples:
  1. If it's communist, the house price would not have increase 15-30 times in different part of the country while average income only increase about 10 times in the last two decades. There are many can afford which means there must be many just cannot.
  2. If it's communist, the online P2P loan platform which are huge payday load platform would not have thrived. Some of youth committed suicide because can never pay back principal and many more lost their money invested in because the platform crashed because who controls took money and ran away.

I agree no government is pure of ... So I would like to say the economin system is now national captalism. May be somewhat of other few labels you listed but for sure not all. When you get time please visit China you will understand more about it.
