RNG fuel for CNG buses a good step before all electric in BCRenewable natural gas represents a much lower carbon footprint vs. compressed natural gas and can be used in existing CNG buses.  Therefore, it makes a good stepping stone between CNG and going all electric.

Renewable natural gas offers the same fuel cost savings as compressed natural gas but also further reduces emissions by an additional 80 per cent.

Operating costs for RNG are competitive with CNG after the monetization of emissions credits in BC.

Here’s a quote from an article from earlier this year (see link at bottom of post). Emphasis is mine:

RNG is now included within B.C.’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard and yields higher emissions credits than CNG due to its lower carbon intensity.
