Lots of Uninformed Posting So let me put this out there since I seem to read quite a bit of nonsense on split fund (FNN,FTN,DF) boards. Don't play with splits unless :
- you actually understand what a NAV is
- you know how the NAV relates to the unit price
- you follow the market closely and don't see split commons as prudent long term investments
- realize that the initial standard $15 "A's" are a complex product for retail suckers
- you've got your own NAV spreadsheet or follow the always accurate estimates of someone like mouserman
If you get a solid grounding in how splits work you'll make money and know how to protect capital otherwise play at your own peril.
