RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:All OEM's are pushingWhen Downsview was sold i thought bbd will move global to QC as this would help them consolidate and improve supply chain. However since then i have learnt that a lot of Global suppliers are located around YYZ. Also the union is happy with the move as members keep thier job. Had the shop moved to QC the the severance payout would have been another added cost and would play negatively to any future rail contract in ON. Another reason to have a separate site is for back up and contingency plan. If all you FAL is on one site then any natural disaster, strikes, etc will shut all your product line. Having separate site also competes one site from another for future jobs and keeps all plants competitive. Look at Pratt Canada they have sites in Mississauga, Lethbridge, Halifax, Mirabel, and Loungeuil.
