Lessons Learned
Lessons Learned First time post. I felt motivated to share the two lessons I learned with NMX. I initially invested back in the 1.30s and rode it into the 2s before stop losses kicked in and I walked with some tendies. I later jumped back in a .96 and rode NMX down to worthless. I juggled with pulling out in the .30s, but I was only in for a couple grand and I wanted it to hurt, so I could reinforce the lessons (also there was an outside chance Quebec would pull a Bombardier and save the day). So here it goes:
- Don't touch anything SoftBank does. They are like a veneral disease, it feels good at the time, but you will likely get burned. Initially, I reinvested in NMX because I figured how can SoftBank, a major financial institution, committ so much money without knowing something. I realized I had made a mistake when I started reading about their "Vision Fund". A basket of stocks they were throwing money at, and in return grabbing their boot handles and taking it dry. Winners like Uber, Oyo and the massive disaster that was WeWork are all in the Vision Fund.
- Never invest in Quebec. This was always a bit of a rule of mine, but NMX definitely reinforced it. Quebec is the Canadian home of corporate welfare ***cough***Bombardier***cough*** and they even own what like 13% of NMX. And then there is the corruption in Quebec. Things like the Charbonneau Comminsion and the Shipyard Scandles have me really wondering why NMX was over budget by 40%!
Luckily for me, I only lost a small amount with this garbage company. I don't expect anything except to toss my name on to the Class Action suit. My heart goes out to all the people that sunk their retirements in terribly managed company. Please in the future learn from this. Even though cashing out in the .30s would have hurt, that was when it was real time apparent this thing was going down. And really looking back with hindsight it was probably more that obvious to an amateur like myself at the dilution. Good luck in the future to everyone.
