But One thing for sure they were too naive about was that AB and Boeing would sit idly buy and allow Bombardier to play unfettered in their sand box.
They may have been good at tech and development of this amazin plane, but they certainly were not market savy.
The autopsy will show that they should have looked at  a partnership  with either  one of them before going to market with it. or likely during its development..may have changed the outcome, but the family was likely to stupidly proud to envison such a thing.

Bombardier couldn't keep up with ramp up cost with AB also contributing imagine what would have happened if bombardier was going it all along. 1.6 billion was written of due to a220 program. Most were thinking cash burn was due to rail legacy program and Global ramp up. 600 mill cash and no 700 million in future investment and cancelling of 100 mill shares of whatever it was is a good deal given the circumstances. 6 billion lost is painful but to invest more for bombardier didn't make sense. They were up against AB who recently agreed to pay 4 billion in bribery charges. Who knows how many billion AB made with this criminal behavior. And then you have BA BA another corupt company which sold a death trap if an airplane. Bombardier would have never been able to make c series a financial success. Hey look at AB the a380 is the biggest embarrassment and financial disaster. 787 has 30 billion in deffered cost that Boeing might never recover. If bombardier wrote off 1.6 billion for a220 program thrn that means AB probably spent equal amount to ramp up. They will have to spend more on ramp up and few billion more to get a220-500 going. Its not going to be an easy certifying the 500 after the MAX certification debacle. 9 bill debt is not only from c series development, it also includes global development and the 1.5 billion write off for the Lear 85. Sice rail hasn't been sold for now it looks like they are keeping it. It can be sold later and it sents mesage to Alstom that they lost the opportunity. With 4 billion in cash and ~1.2 billion coming from Belfast, Moraco, and CRJ the cash flow drain is greatly reduced. Aside from USA no other country has stand alone commercial aviation company. AB has UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy working together to compete. Yes we fell of the bull but hey we are not bankruptcy and have liquidity so brush off the dirty and lets get back on the bull. But this time dont grab the horn.
