Kinross Gold Corporation is a Canada-based global senior gold mining company with operations and projects in the United States, Brazil, Mauritania, Chile and Canada. The Company’s projects include Fort Knox, Round Mountain, Bald Mountain, Manh Choh, Paracatu, La Coipa, Lobo-Marte, Tasiast and Great Bear projects. Fort Knox is an open-pit gold mine located near the city of Fairbanks, Alaska. Round Mountain is a long-life, open pit mine located in Nevada. Bald Mountain is an open pit mine with an estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Market reactionRothstein..... its a problem for most of the canadian resource stocks.
the US markets have been on a tear for so long that it just makes no sense for investors down south to exit them and invest here.
Another problem the Gold's have is many (like kinross) operate in jurisdictions that are run by unreliable/corrupt governments, where after you spend hundreds of millions$ on a mine based on a signed agreement, they want to rip it up and renegotiate it.
Worse even, some change of governments even shut you down by not renewing your mining license to hold you hostage (blackmail).
There are many risks, that is why some like KL receive a premium as they do not operate mines in those places.
Kinross has to start showing steady consecutive quarters of increased healthy profits and they will get noticed.  They really have not been able to do that for a long time.
