RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Poor quality properties & management
RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Poor quality properties & management the perplexing thing about investing is that one can be dead wrong about the facts and still be right. am a long term holder in btb but over a year ago i felt btb would cut it's dividend along with the wave of companies that were cutting - i was dead wrong. i thought interest rates were as low as they could go and would start rising thus hurting valuations - dead wrong again! and I believed btb's payout ratio was too high and both dividend and SP would suffer. so I sold 80% of my btb for average just under $5 only to watch SP climb over 10% more. i actually posted all this at the time and those who ridiculed my decision were actually right. but now I have bought back the same number of shares in the $3's - some 30% less. so fickle mr market decided I was not wrong in spite of being wrong.
so what's the point?
1. I believe in btb's long term story and will add more if SP drops due to a divy cut etc but am probably wrong..
2. one can argue forever about btb's portfolio quality today but it is always changing so if there really are problems it will be sorted out long term. and structural changes in the market (ex. permanent small biz closures meaning specific sector rental headwinds) will certainly affect quality.
3. think long term (unless of course you are a shorter) and we btb shareholders will be just fine.
