In the 'not likely' department,  out of all the distressed companies, it is 'not likely' that any of them will find a white knight willing to pay more than necessary in a market flooded with quality assets at 10% of book value.

In the 'more likely' department, is the debtor-in-possession strategy whereby the company goes into creditor protection and an existing or new creditor funds on going operations while proposing to the courts to take the company private. This proposal does not include offering equity holders anything.

The fact is that Pony now has unfunded obligations and at January 1 will also incur take-or-pay obligations for North Montney Pipeline capacity that they cannot fill or sell. Pony has done a remarkable job of not only destroying the company with irresponsible committments but also endangering any residual value by denying shareholders the full facts, likely to cover their own a$$ez
