Specifically for H, been mentioned that we are the picks and axes when it comes to hydrogen fuel cells. We can supply the hydrogen and not worrry about who has the better mouse trap.  Not as glamourous, but we'll have longevity.

BLD's share price has flattened over the past few months, whereas XBC continues to rise, slow and steady.  YTD BLD is up 2.44X and XBC is up 2.66X.

Neither Ballard nor Plug are viewed as Hyrogen producers. They are seen as technologies that employ Hydrogen to replace specific energy technologies, that are mobility oriented. They are replacing liquid fuels. 

We here in the green NG world are seen as a bit like gas (replacement) producers. We replace ng or provide the fuel for fuel cells.

We also are a long term industry with potential recurring revenues, due to future BOO deals unlike either of those companies. We also have bigger economic impacts, and better upstream environmental impacts.

We are just perceived somewhat differently.
