Private companies have to look for their own financing and in a lot of cases can do a lot of things behind closed doors that might even be on the illegal side and get away with it. Where as public companies have to be accountable to the shareholders that are giving them money to use wisely. A lot of times these companies feel they can do things like a private company and get away with it but find out that this is not the case and sooner or later these companies end up having to be accountable for their actions in the courts bringing hardship to themselves and their shareholders
