Quebec can lead the global energy transition

Pride Quebecers can be very proud of the major hydroelectric projects of the 20th century. In addition to being clean, they offer storage capacities that have made it possible to integrate the wind industry. However, everywhere else in the world, the key to 100% renewable energy lies in storage, batteries and green hydrogen. These are opportunities for Quebec since we not only have the resources, but also the expertise to become a major player in the field of battery storage; this is one of our best avenues for creating wealth. As for green hydrogen, Quebec could be the real pioneer. We can commission new wind and solar farms dedicated to the production of hydrogen from innovative Quebec processes. We have everything we need to create the green fuel for our own transportation and to export that energy. While electricity can be exported over short or medium distances, green hydrogen is a solution for distributing energy around the world. The government should encourage the development of businesses that can work together to meet and even exceed set goals. For 30 years, Innergex has contributed to the production of renewable energy in Quebec and exported its Quebec know-how internationally. We wish to perpetuate our support for the province in its approach to reducing GHG emissions and creating wealth.
