RE:Hey Countrygent!!!Thank Unk.
I know you have suffered along with the old gang for many years as well. There wasn’t much to say there for a few years while we watched the standoff with the Mongolians then the slow evolution of the engineering and financing, the delays, etc.,,
I have been unhappy with the treatment of ETG as a significant JV partner who facilitated the entry of Rio Tinto into the project and their position to bid out Friedland and Ivanhoe. However, I have not been disappointed with the engineering costs, the time lost to stopping work to impress on the Mongolians they can’t ransom foreign investors. Building a mine like this is a huge challenge and great progress has been made, much expertise brought to bear.
Out there in Stockhouse land are a group of posters who don’t like me much at all - when this crazy America election business got going they were chanting MAGA slogans and we got into it as I was offended by their bullying and belligerent attitudes, especially as so many Americans are suffering poverty these days. They bandy about “socialism” as if it is a dirty word, I think they are the modern version of the KKK in disguise, in any event when I told them they were un Democratic world losers, dinosaurs who were on the ring side of progress and history etc.,.they were very unhappy and I got all kinds of slander and ignores. But I did my duty to send out a few Bobby Kennedy “ripples of hope”. Today I am just so happy about the Senate and the chance for some legislative reform in the United States to strengthen the middle class, attack income and wealth inequality at the far heights of incredible greed and wealth (and no, if you have a few million dollars nobody is coming after your little pile - the top 1% are so rich most people can’t fathom the extent of their greed and political power), reform immigration, reform health care, reform housing, reform energy use especially and make America the world leader in manufacturing and technology for clean energy solutions, recover8ng wasted years of stalling and obstruction by the McConnell Senate.
Joe Biden is in a unique position - long career in politics, never had the levers of real power, now he is beholden to few, know some how Washington works, has the suppprt of both houses of Congress, it is a miracle delivered by the deep stupidity of Trumpism. I hope conservatives can rebuild a much more effective political coalition because balance is important, but they overplays their hand from the time Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court was blocked.
So ... lesson for TRQ and ETG, if you are right, and stick by your guns and sound principles, you might find success will come after struggle.
Great day today, shenanigans in Congress over this false narrative of election problems excepted. And it is all made up to try and cloak the long-standing GOP strategy of suppression of voting by poor and coloured people. Only this time, Covid threw a wrench in the works.
