RE:50 Hz

True that overloaded electrical distrubution networks can drag down on frequency. Usually relays start opening and shed load to maintain Hz (60 in NA, 50 in Eu)

In fact VFD's (Variable Freq Drives) change Hz so AC motors can easily have RPM altered
