RE:RE:RE: hydro
RE:RE:RE: hydro Need local hydro and imported electricity from the US Pacific NW to help development of offshore windfarms in BC. This dependence was known for years. The wind doesn't blow all the time. Two examples of cross border cooperation:
"The Montana-Alberta Tie Line, is a 230 kilovolt (kV) line that allows for bidirectional flow of power primarily for new wind power generating units on both sides of the border.
The Great Northern Transmission line is a proposed 500 (kV) project connecting Minnesota Power with Manitoba Hydro, which is intended to support development of wind resources in the upper Midwest."
Planning for the future is key. BC Hydro and the States, the Federal Gov't and the provinces, etc. Couple this with the likelihood that BC will not build another hydro dam or large gas generation facility. Where will the future energy supply come from? Windpower.
Northland will be working with First Nations, Northern Communities, BC Hydro, Gov't of BC and Gov't of Canada on the Hecate proposal to try to move the project forward. Must have everyone involved, no exception.
