RE:RE:HOLIDAY BOOKINGS SURGEI do understand your mathematical point. However, I would much rather hear of a surge in people booking than no surge at all. Additionally, you would have no idea what the depth of the surge is, as nothing is quantified in the article. Anecdotally, I would say the surge in bookings is real, as they are forward bookings. For example, I've now done all kinds of bookings for travel starting next November and going forward from there. I'm totally comfortable with those bookings, as it gives time for the Vaccines kicking in, while also trying to get slightly ahead of what I think will be an absolute crush of bookings, as people certainly need a vacation or to reunite with loved ones.
On the vacation front, I saw first hand rooms filling up because I could see the booking map of room availability. But having said that, it will still be quite a while before I make a restaurant reservation, because that's something you only do a day or two in advance, not 1/2 a year in advance. On that front, I look forward, hopefully sooner than later, to feeling equally comfortable and safe.
