RE:Pushback against the leftFirst, my regards to Marner, whom never fails to deliver something interesting and of value.
The world would indeed be a better place if we could talk a bit less, but listen and try and
understand each other one h ell of a lot more.
I am an older guy now but was once younger and full of youthful energy and ideas. Over the
years I think I have gained some wisdom and a lot of empathy. Very little in life seems black
and white to me. Mostly I see various shades of grey. My youthful ideas have not faded and
are still very much alive and with me. I had environmentalist leanings in my teens and into my
twenties and have not changed. Those leanings simply have been tempered by age and
growth.
Marner has in many of his posts hit on exactly the right balance I think must be respected and
maintained if we are to succeed as a country and as individuals. Where I have grown in wisdom
is to see and understand that as well. Youth is typically impatient and sometimes miss the
overall consequences of their actions, and old men who run the world, sometimes move to
slowly because they are so entrenched in the past. A good blend of both would serve us all
to build a better world. Talking and listening is the only route forward that makes any sense
and ultimately, the realization that we need each other.
Great post, M.
