RE:RE:RE:Check out news today at PAI The discussion around ITSS here sounds more like confirmation bias and grasping for straws. No one here is actually citing any clinical evidence on whether temperature screening is actually effective. I'll go into an essential store and no one is screening for temperature because it's a waste of resources. Public money is better spent in just vaccinating more people or making sure people do not have to worry if they choose to stay home due to a fever. I'm sure some of you have experienced this or know people who've had to hide they've had symptoms (not necesarilly a fever) just because they're worried about repercussion at work or losing wages.
And regarding the privacy concerns, is it so hard to understand why some people would feel invaded if their face and temperatures were being recorded just for walking into some random store? Sure, you could find some use for the facial recognition at least, but that's not my impression on how the ITSS is being marketed. No doubt facial recognition will have some use to streamline processes for gyms and such, but that is a very niche use that I don't believe is a priority with COVID. It should be no surprise that the the public very wary on careless spending with COVID. Despite those concerns, GSI.V has seen massive growth through COVID and I don't believe any of it was thanks to ITSS, so why the heavy emphasis on ITSS? The gold mine is elsewhere!!
You would think this is the worst time to be looking at expensive upgrades given the uncertainties for future cashflow, so how is GSI.V still landing all these new contracts consistently? I believe that school business and public transits are far more eager to find new sources of revenues due to the cashburn from this pandemic. Added revenue from stop-arm violations, bus lane infarctions, cost-savings etc. stuff like that are all very easy to understand for the people who handle the money. Same idea with the speed of marijuana being legalized in states across the US with COVID, these states need new revenue sources to deal with their deficits. It is coming and I'm very supportive of GSI.V focusing their resources into these sectors instead of ITSS!
