Nevada Copper Corp is a Canada-based mining company. The Company is engaged in the development, operation, and exploration of its copper project (the Project) at its Pumpkin Hollow Property (the Property) in Western Nevada, United States of America. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade Underground Mine and processing facility, which is undergoing a restart of operations, and a large-scale open pit PFS stage project. RE:RE:RE:OT: Pit wall collapse - too much rain?In the case of the New Afton mine, the pitwall failed several years ago due to the block cave under the wall.  The pitwall collapse was expected. 

The real issue is the large open pit over the block cave.  The pit effectively acts as a 2km by 1km wide funnel for rain and snow into the cave.  My understanding was that the mine was pumping out any water in the bottom of the pit as one of the mud rush mitigation efforts.  It was a cold, snowy winter in Kamloops in 2021, so unlikely that the mud rush was due to an early spring thaw. 

Not sure that there was any failure of engineering or operations in new New Afton case, but the investigation is still underway.
