RE:RE:Weird opening this morningRekor getting smashed again today. Down almost 50% in 2 days. DD must be happy that GSI didn't head into that camera segment. 

  • Rekor Systems (NASDAQ:REKR) fell 24% on speculation that a Texas bill for uninsured vehicle enforcement was likely dead.
  • Rekor, which makes a camera that checks license plates to see if individuals have insurance, has been touting the potential to get contracts in Florida and Texas if the states pass legislation. The only state Rekor currently has a contract with is Oklahoma. 
  • Today was a deadline in Texas for a bill to be able to get of out committee in the state and the legislation for the vehicle enforcement wasn't listed on the Daily House Calendar released today.
  • Last month, Northland analyst Michael Latimore raised his PT to $26 from $24 after a Texas house committee approved the bill, saying he was more confident of Rekor win in Texas.
  • In addition, last week B. Riley analyst Zach Cummins said that uninsured vehicle information legislation failed to move forward in Florida with Senate's Transportation Committee.  Cummins, who has a buy rating and $26 PT on Rekor, said he didn't believe it was the "end of the road" in Florida as the company was still in talks with key officials on alternative paths.
  • Rekor didn't immediately respond to Seeking Alpha request for comment.
  • Rekor is scheduled to release Q1 results after the close. 
  • Rekor short interest 5.95% of float.
