Agreed, Outlander! The point is at some point in time a stock reaches it's apex. The person who bought there can never win. It is the curse of the lack of rules on shorting that you amplify the losers for stocks that reach an apex artificially by manipulation, hype and naivety and then there are many losers (eg. SONA). I'm sure there were many who bought north of $10 to $15 and sunk far too much into the hype. Thankfully Empower is not, by any current measure, in that boat ...but there were those that have positions, purchased when the sp took off that have had to demonstrate incredible patience.

Over time, the overall market increases in value so if each participant sold for more than they paid, each party would be a winner. Clearly this isn't always the case but certainly there doesn't have to be a loser for every winner.
