Fidelity VS Anon - Market Maker? Why Buy From Themselves? As posted & suggested by some that the market maker is Fidelity on the buying side & Anonymous on the selling side. This does make sense given that Fidelity has by far the most purchases & Anon has by far the most sells since the market maker was announced.
However, why are there a lot of transactions where Fidelity is actually purchasing shares from Anon? Why wouldn't Fidelity just layer up the bid side so there are shares to sell into and Anon layer up the sell side so there are shares to buy into?
Is the market maker buying from themselves to create more volume? Or another reason? Anyone have an explanation for this?
