RE:Do you know why there will a plant at YYZ?

RE:Do you know why there will a plant at YYZ?This is my opinion but think the following would have been the reason. Alot of Global suppliers are in Toronto and supply chain is working, so moving to Montreal or elsewhere would add complexity. By staying within 20 km of the Downsview location, Bombardier also retained all the employees. Had the FAL moved far then most employees wont move, leaving Bombardier with inexperienced employees building a jet that needs to be ramping up. Training new employees will add cost, slow down production due to learning curve. Also Bombardier would have to pay severance pay to employees who don't move. Again another overhead cost. Also by having a separate FAL Bombardier can keep check on the unions. Threat of loosing job to another plant which is more efficient works well during bargaining. Also having FAL can open Bombardier to Ontario giving Bombardier incentives for having hi tech jobs.
