Farmer12 wrote: Experienced, you are absolutely correct. The uncontrolled spending spree by this government is outrageous. It is a disgrace that we, as a generation, cannot live within our means. When Trudeau announces a spending program, the money is not ready to use in an account, It is money borrowed from future generations. The grandchildren of our grandchildren will still be paying interest on this debt. The debt will never be repaid. Money for foreign aid, borrowed from future generations of Canadians. Money splashed around during covid, often went to seniors and businesses that didn't need it. The savings rate actually went up. During the election no politician made balancing the budget a priority. Why? Because you can buy a vote for five cents. Increase the old age pension. I'll vote for you. Increase the child tax credit. I'll vote for you. You have pretty hair and nice socks. I'll vote for the big spender, with his sidekick Singh, an even bigger spender. For those worried about my sanity, I have wiped the spittle off my computer and have recovered my composure.
Yep

When I saw Trudeau come out of his house that day and announced that everybody over 65 would get $300 tax free whether they needed it or not, I looked at my wife and said "Our $600 is going to the Food Bank to help somebody who actually needs it."  I personally know of lots of business people who took various forms of handouts even though they didn't need it because they could.  I personally know retired teachers who were double dipping (teaching part time or doing some other work related to education) before COVID and then got a handout from Trudeau even though they had large teachers pensions for life.

Frankly, what really should have happened is to have set up another schedule for the tax returns (call it COVID or something like that) and take your net income and report it on the schedule.  Based on a sliding scale starting at some number say 40K for the sake of argument, you have to return part or all of your handout depending on your income.
