RE:Secret plot? Meh Mike,
I agree with you. I think the "mystery buyer hypothesis" pushed here by some is pure nonsense as it both would be incredibly cynical by DD, as you correctly note, and illegal. New investors coming here for information, if they fall prey to it, will be turned off by this type of unfounded conspiracy theory peddling that borders on the criminal.
It would be illegal because it implies DD is sitting on material news without revealing it to current shareholders, to the benefit of a potential partner. It would also be illegal market manipulation to favorise a potential partner in such a way.
When a partner comes in, it does so by doing a private placement with the smaller company, so that the smaller company has cash to accelerate growth. There is no benefit to GSI for a partner to simply acquire shares on the open market.
It cannot be clearer by now that whatever Fidelity is acquiring is being dumped, and more, through another outlet. They're simply a market maker. Otherwise, the invoked accumulation would've sent the shares up, way up, not massively down. That's simple arithmetic. I submit that we might see a few new institutions having acquired shares in this downturn, but not a partner that would be in secret discussions with GSI. An outfit could look at the share price and do a low ball offer, but that usually happens in takeovers.
IMHO, The current relentless downdraft here is due to:
1) general bear market in small cap venture stocks.
2) DD being unable to announce deals to counter the share price erosion because he simply doesn't have finalized deals to announce.
3) recent past overhype by DD which has eroded investor confidence in his management skills, mostly by hyping transit deals which have taken "forever" to materialize or have "dematerialized", failing to do a twice-announced private placement at 1$, and finally, overestimating last quarter's revenues badly and likely next one's too.
I am still here because I think:
1) the shares are now undervalued based on current known business.
2) I still think a transit deal will occur in the near future (3-6 months).
3) Year over year comparisons will be favorable after next quarter's.
4) recent investor communication mistake by DD are far outweighed by his long history of success running GSI.
4) GSI is operating in an industry with good growth potential.
GLTA,
