RE:Biden Bill Requests Evaluation of School Bus Safety Tech

RE:Biden Bill Requests Evaluation of School Bus Safety Tech

Sounds good. Better if sooner than 2 years. Oh well.

After watching that GSI video, I was reminded of a question I had which has to do with the stop sign on the side of school buses. It puzzles me why the stop sign is attached to a short swing arm. Everyone is so concerned about cars passing stopped buses so why isn't that stop sign swing arm affixed to a longer swing arm, like the one attached to the front of the school bus.

Seems like an obvious fix to the problem of passing cars as a longer arm would be more visible. A car would have to drive right through and break off the arm if it was 5 feet long.

Anyone know why the current stop sign is affixed to such a short arm? Am I the only one who sees this as a 100% solution to the problem? ( which btw, might not be good for GSI as should be fewer cars passing the stopped school bus).

Could be a suggestion coming out of that DoT study in 2 years time.

Thoughts on the short stop arm?? Why?
