BNP sees a light at the end of the tunnel for BNP.  They'll get this 2 million back either in a transaction or through bankruptcy, so they're not risking anything.  For various reasons they'd rather get it through a transaction, so they'll bankroll the operation for a few more weeks.

It would be interesting to see the terms attached to this $2 million. 

They tell us in clear, plain English that the shares are worthless, and still some people don't get it.
