RE:Day TradingHello CanadianBear,
Welcome to the Verde board - I don't believe I have seen you post here before (in the past 18 months) so it is always great when another person has sufficient interest to share their thoughts and opinions. It appears, unlike some boards I frequent on Stockhouse, that this board has attracted some respectful and well informed individuals who see value in participating in a friendly but often challenging dialogue with other investors.
I agree the benefit of studying day to day transactions in a particular security is fleeting. Having said that, I do find that some companies, Verde is an example, where the particular circumstances (shares issued, time and price of issue, geographic and average holding shareholder distribution, single large shareholder not trading, etc) make the longer term analysis quite compelling. While my last datadump from Computerserve giving the number, location and shareholdings of all Verde common shareholders is now coming up to 1 year old, the Verde data set has a lot of useful (informative) data.
I would offer that the daily low trading volume makes Verde a difficult stock for an active day trader to be able to lock in profits if indeed they can "move" the market. Too many long term (still unhappy) shareholders licking their wounds while patiently waiting for the underlying potential of the Verde Cerrado deposit to be realized. If a few keen traders want to trade around the margin, that at least keeps the data points accumulating while the real investors look on.
I too have raised and supported the likelihood that a major player will become interested in the Verde opportunity and will take a run at acquiring the Company. No doubt they would engage the CEO as the largest single shareholder to get onside before making their interest public. As I believe Mr. Veloso is already through his family independently wealthy, an offer that brings him to the table will likely be sweet enough for all shareholders to agree that they will tender their shares into the offer.
I hope you will continue to take the time to share your views. We seem to be getting a larger number of individual readers of this board, without seeing a whole lot of new, and active, contributors. Your post today is most welcome, the more the better.
Cheers,
S.
